FUTURO: PRESENTE CONTINUO

I am having lunch with a friend tomorrow (voy a comer con un amigo mañana)
→ (ya hemos quedado)
I am visiting Paris next week (voy a visitar Paris la semana que viene)
→ (ya tengo el vuelo)
We are having a party this weekend (vamos a hacer una fiesta este fin de semana)

Compara:
I'm going to get married (me voy a casar) → Lo tengo en mente, lo tengo planeado.
I'm getting married (me voy a casar) → Lo tengo planeado y además he cogido fecha en la iglesia.

Business English - emails

Dear + Mr/Ms/Miss/Mrs + apellido
ó
Dear + nombre -  querido/a

Para despedirse:

Regards + tu nombre - saludos

Frases para empezar:

I am writing to you regarding....Te escribo sobre / El motivo del siguiente email es...
Thank you for your reply...Gracias por su respuesta...
In reply to your last email...En respuesta a su último email...

Frases intermedias:

I have attached the following documents...Le adjunto los siguientes documentos...
Please reply by + date...
Please treat this information as confidential.
If you have any questions regarding this please contact me for further details.

Please let me know if you need any further information.
Please don´t hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Ej: voy a comprar, vamos a vender, va a invitar....

¿CÓMO SE FORMA?

Afirmativas
sujeto + verbo to be (conjugado en presente) + going to + verbo
I am going to buy a car (yo voy a comprar un coche)
She is going to buy a car (ella va a comprar un coche)
They are going to buy a car (ellos van a comprar un coche)

Negativas
sujeto + verbo to be en negativo (conjugado en presente)  + going to + verbo
I am not going to buy a car (yo no voy a comprar un coche)
She isn't going to buy a car / She is not going to buy a car (ella no va a comprar un coche)
They aren't going to buy a car / They are not going to buy a car (ellos no van a comprar un coche)

Interrogativas
verbo to be (conjugado en presente) + sujeto + going to + verbo
Are you going to buy a car? (¿Vas a comprar un coche?)
Is she going to buy a car? (¿Va a comprar un coche?)
Are they going to buy a car? (¿Van a comprar un coche?)

¿CUÁNDO SE USA?

Cuando decimos "I am going to do something" (voy a hacer algo) quiere decir que hemos decidido hacerlo, nuestra intención es hacerlo.
Tomorrow I'm going to visit my aunt (mañana voy a visitar a mi tía)
We're going to buy a car next month (nos vamos a comprar un coche el mes que viene )

Look at the sky. It's going to rain (mira el cielo. Va a llover)
(hay nubes negras = lluvia)

It's ten o'clock and you're not ready. You're going to be late. (son las 10 y no estás lista. Vas a llegar tarde)

TIPS (consejos)
Normalmente con el verbo "to go" y "to come" para hablar de futuro no usamos el "be going to" sino el presente continuo.
I'm going to the cinema (voy al cine/ voy a ir al cine) Es correcta y más natural que decir I'm going to go to the cinema.
Peter is coming to visit tomorrow (Peter va a venir de visita mañana)

Verbos y preposiciones en inglés: Think of y Think about

THINK OF

Relax, breathe and think of a desert island (relájate, respira y piensa en una isla desierta)
I can't think of the word in Spanish (no recuerdo la palabra en español)
What do you think of classical music? (¿qué piensas de la música clásica?)

THINK ABOUT

A: Do you want to go to the cinema or the theatre?
B: I’m not sure. Can I think about it for a few minutes? (no estoy segura. Déjame un par de minutos para pensarlo)

They were thinking about selling their house (ellos estaban considerando vender la casa)
I am thinking about buying a new washing machine (estoy pensando en comprarme una lavadora nueva)

THINK OF = THINK ABOUT

I'm thinking of you = I'm thinking about you (estoy pensando en ti)

EJERCICIO
Completa los huecos con think of o think about.

Gramática inglesa - frases con I wish

1. I wish / if only + sujeto + WOULD + infinitivo sin to

Esta estructura se usa cuando deseamos que:

- algo ocurra o una situación cambie.
I wish the train would arrive (ojalá llegue el tren)
If only it would stop snowing (ojalá deje de nevar)

I wish the neighbours would stop making so much noise (ojalá los vecinos dejen de hacer tanto ruido)
I wish you wouldn't leave your room so untidy (ojalá no dejes tu habitación tan desordenada)
I wish you would stop smoking (ojalá dejes de fumar)

Nota:
No es común utilizar I wish I would puesto que si algo nos molesta y depende de nosotros, podemos cambiarlo.
I wish I would go homo now (ojalá me fuera a casa) →  no tendría sentido quejarnos por esta situación porque está en nuestra mano realizar la acción de irnos a casa.

2. I wish / if only + sujeto + verbo en PASADO SIMPLE

If only I could swim (ojalá supiera nadar)
(but I can't swim) (pero no puedo nadar)

I wish I knew the answer (ojalá supiera la respuesta)
(but I don't know the answer) (pero no sé la respuesta)

I wish we had lots of money (ojalá tuvieramos mucho dinero)
(but we haven't got lots of money) (pero no tenemos mucho dinero)

→ Podemos user were en lugar de was con I, he, she, it

I wish I were famous = I wish I was famous (ojalá fuera famoso)
= (but I am not famous) (pero no soy famoso)
I wish the weather weren't rainy = I wish the weather wasn't rainy (ojalá no lloviera)
= (but it is rainy) (pero llueve)

3. I wish / if only + sujeto + verbo en PASADO PERFECTO

I wish I had passed all my exams (ojalá hubiera aprobado todos mis exámenes)
(but I didn't pass) (pero no los aprobé)

I wish I had been able to buy tickets for that concert (ojalá hubiera podido comprar entradas para ese concierto)
(but I couldn't) (pero no pude)

If only he had told me the truth (ojalá me hubiera dicho la verdad)
(but he didn't tell me the truth ) (pero no me dijo la verdad)

I wish I hadn't met him (ojalá no lo hubiera conocido)
(but I met him) (pero lo conocí)

Importante
He wishes he were famous (él lamenta no ser famoso) (él desería ser famoso)
She wishes she had haver met him (ella lamenta haberlo conocido) (ella desearía no haberle conocido)

They wish you would stop smoking (ellos desean que dejes de fumar)

EJERCICIO
1.  Ejercicio de rephrasing para repasar I wish / If only.
